Antenna Builds

2m J-Pole

There are about a thousand different write-ups for building a 2m j-pole out of copper pipe so I won't repeat them again here as this one isn't special in any way. I painted the antenna white so that it wouldn't stand out so much against the sky. The top of the antenna is about as high as I'm allowed to have it due to HOA restrictions. Mounted below the j-pole is a horizontally polarized loop antenna for 2m SSB.

To mount the antenna I used a section of galvanized steel EMT conduit and strut channel secured to the roof joist with 4" lag bolts.

VSWR is <1.3 across the 2m band with a minimum of 1.17 at 146.2 MHz.
